What is Hackatopia?
Hackatopia is a resource for organizing and tracking competitive programming events. The system provides features for both the contest participants as well as those organizing a hackathon event.
Hackatopia is currently in a Beta release, and not all of our features are yet online. Keep an eye on the site to see new features added over the coming days/weeks.
For Hackathon Participants
Hackatopia provides programmers with a one-stop-shop for finding events, forming teams, and building a virtual trophy case for themselves.
Every registered Hackatopian has access to tools that make it easy to manage and publicize their hackathon careers.
Database of Hackathon Events
With our site, you can stay informed of hackathons occurring in your vicinity by searching our growing database of events.
You can also save your search as an RSS feed and be notified of matching events as soon as they pop up.
Team Formation and Management
Once you've selected an event you want to participate in, you can create or join a team. We provide team-management and communication tools right from the site.
Public Profile
Use your public Hackatopia profile page to share your hackathon accomplishments with potential team-mates, employers, and the world.
You may also link to your profile pages on other social networks. Your profile page shows proven skills.
Live Event Updates
Hackathons in-progress are supported with live status updates on the Hackatopia event page, featuring tweets tagged for the event, live video, and photos and videos shared by the participants and observers.
For Hackathon Organizers
Hackatopia gives hackathon organizers with tools to publicize their event and quickly get on the radar of talented, motivated developers just itching for a challenge.
Easy Event Setup
You can setup a new Hackathon event in the Hackatopia system with just a few clicks. You can customize your event page(s) by uploading your own logos and photos.
Full Event Lifecycle Management
The Hackatopia system manages your hackathon event from start to finish. Our website has you covered for all phases of your event.
A pre-event mode provides all the information organizers and participants need to learn about your event, register, form teams, and begin to plan their project.
The live-event mode shows live stats on the hackathon, including status updates from the participants and other interested parties, as well as live-video and photos.
The post-event mode displays the results of your event, including what projects were produced, team details, lists of awarded prizes, and photos, videos, and other relevant information that will be displayed on the site for posterity. These pages are fully indexed by search engines and WILL drive traffic back to your organization for future events.
